About
Mattias is a multifaceted musician, conductor, composer, and baritone from the Washington DC area. He holds a BA in music from Haverford College and an MM in choral conducting from the Yale School of Music.
During the 2022-23 academic year, Mattias served as the music director at the University Church in Yale, and was honored with the Paul Richard DeLong Prize for his exceptional work in church music. With a specialization in early music performance, he is dedicated to reviving lesser-known works from the baroque period and engaging in dialogue with musical cultures of the past.
Now completing a DMus at the Schulich School of Music in Montreal, Mattias served as director of the University Chorus of McGill during the 2023-2024 academic year, and appeared twice as guest conductor of the Schulich Singers. His doctoral research concerns the music of French composer Michel Richard De Lalande (1657-1726), and the creation of two new performing editions of De Lalande's choral-orchestral works.
